Eaton 6 Light E14 Pendant Light 42cm - Antique Brass

Six clear glass shades sit on an antique brass frame, spreading light outwards rather than pooling it in one spot. The glass is left clear so the candle lamps inside stay visible, and the warm brass tone keeps the whole fitting from looking cold. At 42cm across it is a middling size for a pendant of this shape, wide enough to read as a proper centrepiece without crowding a room. It takes E14 candle lamps, and we would choose an LED candle with a flame tip to suit the open glass.

We hang this sort of fitting over a dining table, in a hallway with the height to carry it, or above a stair turn where the drop can be let out. The suspension adjusts, so it can sit low over a table or higher in a room of ordinary ceiling height. Dimming is possible where dimmable lamps are fitted, which is worth doing if the same light serves both mealtimes and quiet evenings. It suits homes leaning traditional, though the clear glass keeps it lighter than a heavy period piece.

The frame is metal finished in antique brass, softened and aged rather than brightly polished, with clear glass shades. An earth connection is required. Keep the glass clear with a dry lint-free cloth and lift dust from the brass with the same, leaving polishes and sprays out of it; the aged tone is meant to stay as it is. It carries a one year warranty. The same shape runs through the range in smaller and larger pendants, with semi flush fittings, a table lamp and a wall light alongside, and polished chrome as an alternative to the brass. Lamps are not included.

How far down does it hang?

The drop adjusts between 880mm and 2140mm, with the body itself standing 700mm tall, so it can be set close under the ceiling or let out over a table or stairwell.

Which lamps should I buy for it?

Six E14 candle lamps, up to 20W each. LED candles in the C35 shape, or a flame tip version, suit the clear glass best.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps. A dimmer switch is not supplied with the pendant.

How wide is it, and how much does it weigh?

It measures 420mm in diameter and weighs 11kg.

How should I clean the glass?

Switch the light off and let the lamps go cold first, then wipe each shade with a dry lint-free cloth. Avoid metal polish and aerosol sprays on the brass.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. This one is rated for dry indoor rooms only, so keep it to halls, dining rooms, bedrooms and living spaces.
