Description

Amber glass, cut in a diamond pattern, sits within an antique brass frame picked out in black. Lit, the facets break the glow into small warm points; unlit, the amber still reads as colour against a pale wall. It measures 23cm across and keeps its projection modest, so it holds fairly close to the wall rather than reaching out into the room. The glass encloses an E27 socket rated to 20W.

We reach for this where a table lamp would only be in the way: beside a bed, along a hallway, up a landing, or above a chair in a reading corner. A toggle switch on the fitting itself means you can work it at the light rather than crossing the room, which is much of why it earns a place at a bedside. It will dim with a compatible lamp and dimmer, though neither comes with it. For the warmest result we would fit a decorative LED globe or a squirrel-cage ST64, so the filament shows through the facets.

The finish is antique brass, warm and slightly aged rather than bright, and the black detailing stops it reading as too golden. For the glass, use a soft cloth with a little glass cleaner applied to the cloth rather than sprayed at the fitting; the metal wants dusting only, with nothing abrasive on it. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, well away from bathroom splashes. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range runs to flush fittings, among them a diamond glass version in polished chrome and an antique brass one with amber wine glass, so a hall and its landing can be paired up. Lamps are not included.

It takes a single E27 lamp up to 20W. LED versions of the GLS A60, G80 globe, ST64 and the T185 or T45 tubular shapes all work, and a visible filament looks well behind the cut glass.

Yes, provided you use a dimmable lamp together with a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamp nor the dimmer is supplied.
