Description

A long, slender glass tube finished with an E27 screw cap, this lamp gives light all the way around rather than pushing it in one direction. The glass is clear, so the filament work inside stays on view and the tube reads as a bright line rather than a solid shape. Output is warm white at 2700K, which is the softer, slightly amber end of the scale and the one most people want in a living room. It dims, provided there is a suitable dimmer on the circuit.

We reach for tubular lamps where the bulb itself is the visible part of the fitting: open pendants hung over a table or island, cage and lantern shades with nothing to hide behind, and multi-lamp bars where a row of upright tubes looks deliberate rather than accidental. The slim body suits narrow shades and glass cylinders that a globe would fill awkwardly. At 6W it is happy to be left on through an evening, so it also works well in hallway and landing fittings that stay lit for hours.

The tube is clear glass on a standard screw cap, with the warm tone carried right through the length so there is no bright spot at one end. For cleaning, switch off first and let the glass cool, then run a dry cloth along the tube to lift dust; hold the cap rather than the glass when fitting or removing it, and keep polish and sprays away from the surface. It carries a three year warranty. We stock this one in clear only, which is the point of it, and would pair it with an open shade or a bare flex where the glass can be seen end to end. A dimmer switch is not supplied with the lamp.
