Description

A slim clear tube on an E27 base, this is the sort of lamp made to be seen rather than hidden. At 185mm tall it reads as a line of light instead of a ball, and the glass is left plain so the LED work inside stays visible. The tone is a warm 2700K, close to old tungsten, and it draws only 4W. The diameter stays narrow, so it slips inside tall glass shades that a wider lamp would crowd.

We reach for it wherever a fitting leaves the lamp on show, so bare flex drops over a kitchen island, clear cloche pendants, cage fittings and open wall lights all suit it well. Light comes off the tube all round, which keeps a cluster looking even from any angle in a hallway or over a dining table. Because it dims, it will drop to a low evening glow on a compatible LED dimmer, which is not supplied. It is one we suggest where a shorter lamp looks lost in a tall shade. It suits anyone swapping out an older decorative filament lamp for something that costs less to run.

The tube is clear glass throughout, with the E27 base at one end, and there is nothing painted or coated to wear off. Keep it dust free with a dry cloth once the lamp is cold, holding the base rather than the glass. Fingerprints show on clear glass more than on opal, so a wipe before fitting is worth the minute. It carries a three year warranty. Used singly it is quiet enough for a plain shade, and repeated along a bar or counter the upright line does the styling on its own.
