Description

A decorative LED lamp for lampholders on show, this one lays an amber cast over everything it lights. The tone is extra warm at 2100K, nearer candle flame than ordinary warm white, and the draw is a modest 4W. The rounded globe form stands around 16cm tall, big enough to read as a shape in its own right, and it gives light all round rather than throwing it forward. Output is gentle by intent: this is a lamp you look at as much as one you light a room with.

We would put it in an open pendant over a dining table, in a bare flex drop down a stairwell, or in a run above a bar or counter where the amber glow is half the point. It also earns its place in a bedside pendant or a shop window. The larger screw fitting, E27, means it drops into most pendants and table lamps without fuss. It dims, provided the dimmer is one suited to LED lamps, which is worth checking first as no dimmer comes with it. Anyone after low, mellow evening light rather than bright working light will get on with it.

The amber finish runs evenly over the whole envelope, so the colour holds whether the lamp is lit or cold, and there is no printed pattern to wear off. For care, switch off at the wall, give it a moment to cool, then wipe the outside with a dry cloth and keep water and sprays away from the contacts. It carries a three year warranty. We like it against black, aged brass or copper metalwork, and in a loose group at staggered heights above a long table. Standing alone in a plain holder it does just as well, which is why we keep it on the shelf year round.
