Description

A small candle tip lamp with clear glass, made to be looked at rather than hidden away. The tapered tip and slim body follow the outline of a traditional candle bulb, so the filament housing reads as part of the fitting rather than an afterthought. It draws 4W and gives 470 lumens at 4000K, a crisp neutral white that sits well against chrome, polished nickel and cool paint colours. Because the glass is clear, the light comes out as a bright point with a little sparkle where it passes through cut glass or crystal.

We reach for this one in chandeliers and multi-arm ceiling lights, in wall lights with clear or open glass shades, and in table lamps where the lamp itself is visible. The cooler white suits kitchens, utility rooms, hallways and home offices, where a warmer tone can look heavy and a cleaner light makes worktops and paperwork easier to read. It will dim, provided the dimmer on the circuit is one intended for LED lamps; no dimmer comes with it, so check what is already on the wall before you order.

The clear envelope keeps the shape crisp and shows no diffuser, and the E14 cap keeps the whole lamp light in the hand. Looking after it takes very little: turn the circuit off, wait until the glass is cool to touch, then take dust off with a dry cloth so the clear finish stays bright. Avoid sprays and anything damp near the cap. It carries a three year warranty.
