Dynamics Up & Down Wall Light - Black

The Dynamics is a 23cm cylindrical wall light machined from matt black aluminium with a ribbed outer surface and two GU10 lamp fittings firing upward and downward. A central band wraps the cylinder mid-height, housing the fixing mechanism and dividing the upper and lower light outputs. Each GU10 socket accepts a lamp up to 50W, creating two beams of wash light onto the wall surface.

Designed for hallways, staircases, feature walls and gallery-style residential or commercial interiors, the Dynamics provides accent lighting rather than general illumination. The up-down configuration highlights ceiling cornices, wall textures or architectural features such as brickwork or panelling, creating shadow patterns that shift through the day depending on natural light levels. Installed at 1.5-1.8m height, the wall wash typically extends 1-1.5m above and below the fitting depending on lamp beam angle and wall distance.

The ribbed aluminium cylinder dissipates heat from the GU10 lamps without requiring active cooling or ventilation slots. The black anodised finish resists fingerprints and surface wear, and the IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor environments. The 6cm diameter cylinder projects 10.6cm from the wall once fitted, making it suitable for circulation spaces where the projection will not obstruct movement. The cylindrical form works equally well as a single accent or in multiples spaced evenly along a corridor or stairwell.

What GU10 bulbs should I use?

The Dynamics takes two GU10 lamps up to 50W each. Most users install warm-white LED GU10s between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K for a softer wall wash effect. Narrow beam angles (25-35 degrees) create more defined wash patterns; wider beams (60-90 degrees) give broader coverage.

Can it be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits the Dynamics to dry indoor environments only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or any outdoor application.

How far does the light spread on the wall?

Spread depends on the GU10 bulb beam angle and the distance the fitting sits from the wall. With a typical 6cm projection and a 35-degree beam, expect 1-1.5m of vertical coverage above and below the fitting. Wider beam bulbs increase this.

What height should it be installed at?

For hallways and staircases, 1.5-1.8m above floor level is typical. This allows the downward beam to wash the lower wall without creating glare at eye level, and the upward beam to highlight the upper wall and ceiling junction.
