Description

The Durban is a 35cm linear LED wall light built around an open rectangular frame in matt white, with an integrated 10W LED strip running along one internal edge. The LED casts warm 3000K light back against the wall, creating a backlit halo effect that highlights the frame without direct glare. The 780lm output provides ambient rather than task lighting, making it suitable for circulation spaces and accent positions.

Designed for hallways, bedroom walls, staircases and entrance areas, the Durban can be mounted vertically or horizontally depending on wall proportion and furniture placement. The 350mm height fits standard wall widths between door frames or above headboards without dominating the vertical plane. The 120mm projection from the wall gives sufficient depth for the backlit effect to work without the fitting appearing to float too far out from the surface. The non-dimmable LED is factory-wired and does not require separate driver installation.

The matt white powder-coated aluminium frame weighs 0.55kg and mounts directly to a standard UK wall plate using concealed fixings. The open-frame geometry means there is no enclosed shade to clean internally, just the external frame surface. The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm white output that sits comfortably in residential interiors without the blue cast of cooler LEDs. The 60° beam angle directs most of the light outwards along the wall rather than into the room, reinforcing the backlit accent effect.

Can the Durban be dimmed?

No. The integrated LED is non-dimmable and operates at full output on standard mains switching. Installing the fitting on a dimmer circuit will not reduce output and may cause flickering or damage to the driver.

Can it be mounted horizontally or vertically?

Yes. The Durban can be installed in either orientation depending on the wall layout and the desired accent effect. The backlit LED strip will always illuminate the wall behind the frame regardless of mounting orientation.

What colour is the light output?

The integrated LED produces 3000K warm white light at 780lm. This is a soft, warm tone similar to traditional halogen, without the blue or clinical appearance of cooler daylight LEDs.

How is the Durban wired?

The fitting connects directly to a standard UK mains wall plate via concealed terminals on the rear mounting bracket. The LED driver is integrated into the fitting, so no separate driver installation is required. A qualified electrician should carry out the installation.
