Description

These are C size alkaline cells from Duracell's Plus Power range, supplied six to a card. C is one of the larger cylindrical sizes, wider and shorter than a D cell and a good deal bigger than an AA. It carries two codes: LR14, the international designation, and MN1400, Duracell's own. Both are printed on the pack, so if the cells you are replacing carry either code, or simply the letter C, these are the right ones. Nominal voltage is 1.5V per cell, as it is for any alkaline cylindrical cell.

C cells tend to appear in the things that draw steady current over a long stretch rather than a short burst: rubber torches and camping lanterns, portable radios, larger wall clocks, motorised toys, and some doorbell chimes. Because the size is used less often than AA or AAA, it is the one a household tends to run out of at the worst moment, which is the argument for keeping six in the drawer.
