Description

The Duracell N/LR1 (also sold as MN9100) is a 1.5V alkaline battery in the specialist N cell size, supplied here as a 2-pack blister. N cells are smaller than AA batteries and are used in devices where space is limited but 1.5V alkaline power is required, including compact torches, certain medical devices, wireless doorbells, bike lights and some calculators.

Each battery uses Duracell's Duralock Power Preserve technology, which reduces self-discharge during storage. The result is a guaranteed 5-year shelf life when the cells are stored in their original packaging at room temperature, meaning batteries bought today remain usable in 2030 without pre-use charging or conditioning. This makes them practical for emergency kits, infrequently-used devices and stockpile rotation in commercial or healthcare settings.

The alkaline chemistry provides a higher energy density than zinc-carbon cells of the same size, which translates to longer runtime in moderate-drain devices. N/LR1 cells measure approximately 12mm diameter by 30mm height, fitting devices designed for this specific cell size and not interchangeable with other battery formats. The blister packaging weighs 20g total and measures 84mm wide by 120mm tall.

Frequently Asked

What devices use N/LR1 batteries?

N cells are used in compact torches, some wireless doorbells, bike safety lights, glucose meters and blood pressure monitors, certain laser pointers, and a small number of calculator models. Check your device's battery compartment or manual to confirm the cell size required before ordering.

Are these rechargeable?

No. These are single-use alkaline cells and must not be recharged. Attempting to recharge alkaline batteries can cause leakage or rupture.

How long do they last in storage?

Duracell guarantees a 5-year shelf life when the batteries remain in their original blister packaging and are stored at room temperature. After opening the pack, use the batteries within a reasonable timeframe to avoid self-discharge losses.

Can I use these instead of E90 or LR1 cells?

Yes. N, LR1, MN9100, E90, 910A, AM5, and several other codes all refer to the same 1.5V alkaline cell format. These Duracell N/LR1 batteries are compatible with any device specifying those designations.
