Description

This is a single Duracell CR2450 lithium coin cell, the large 3V button battery that sits at the top of the CR family. The code itself is the specification: under the international naming convention a CR2450 measures 24.5mm across and 5.0mm thick, and the CR prefix marks it as lithium manganese dioxide with a nominal 3V output. That combination of a wide footprint and real depth is what gives this size its capacity, and it is why a device designed around a CR2450 will not run properly on a thinner cell of the same diameter.

CR2450 cells turn up in the things you only think about when they stop working: car key fobs and alarm remotes, garage and gate handsets, digital kitchen scales, glucose and blood pressure monitors, heart rate chest straps, LED tea lights, some smart home sensors and door contacts, and the backup memory on certain keyboards and instruments. If you have a fob that has gone vague at ten paces, this is often the cell inside it. Prise the case open and read the number printed on the face of the old battery before ordering, since several coin sizes look similar once out of the device.

One cell arrives per pack, in Duracell's child-resistant blister that the pack calls a Baby Secure Pack; you will need scissors rather than fingers to open it, which is the point. The pack prints an up to 40 per cent more power claim, referenced to the IEC standard test minimum average duration for the CR2450 size, and notes that results vary by device and usage. No shelf life figure is printed on this pack. We sell it in multiples of ten, so the minimum order is ten single cells. Yes. This pack carries both codes together as DL/CR2450, so a device manual calling for either number is asking for this same cell.

How many batteries do I actually receive?

One cell per pack. Because we sell in multiples of ten, the smallest order is ten packs, which is ten single cells in total.

Will a CR2032 fit in place of this one?

No. A CR2450 is both wider and thicker, so a 2032 will sit loose in the holder and may not reach the contacts at all.

Why is the pack so difficult to open?

The pack is described as a Baby Secure Pack and carries a keep out of reach of children warning, so you will need scissors to cut it open.
