Description

This Dumbo stocking marks a first Christmas with a soft pastel picture of the little elephant in a red Santa hat, lying beside a wrapped red present. Across the front, the words 'my first CHRISTMAS' sit in silver-grey stitched lettering, with matching stitched snowflakes scattered among pale grey clouds. The stocking is white, finished at the top with a deep white cuff and a twisted cord loop for hanging. Its front measures 64.9cm one way and 27.4cm the other, and it is 4.9cm deep, so there is room for a good handful of small gifts on Christmas morning.

Christmas is its occasion, and the words on the front make it a lovely way to mark someone's very first one. Hang it from a stocking holder on the mantelpiece, a hook on a bedroom door or the end of a bed, and it becomes part of the room's festive dressing through December. The gentle palette of white, soft grey and blush pink sits easily in a calm, light bedroom or alongside traditional decorations in the living room, and the white cuff keeps the look clean and quiet. Because it reads 'my first CHRISTMAS', it makes a thoughtful Christmas gift for anyone marking that first festive season, and one that can come out again every December as a fond reminder.

The Dumbo picture is printed onto the white front, while the lettering, the star and the snowflakes are picked out in silver-grey stitching. Between Christmases, we suggest storing it loosely folded in a dry place, away from damp and strong sunlight, and giving it a gentle shake to lift any dust before it goes back up. When it hangs by the fireplace, keep it well clear of open flames and hot surfaces. For gifting, fill it with a few small treats and a card, then hang it by its loop ready for Christmas morning.
