Description

The Dublin is a 182mm semi-flush ceiling light with a pressed glass shade held by a natural brass mount, rated IP44 for bathroom installation. The glass shade features concentric ribbed detailing that diffuses light while the brass mount sits 205mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above. The fitting takes one E27 bulb up to 40W, sold separately.

Designed for bathrooms, cloakrooms and hallways where a low-profile ceiling light is needed, the Dublin's IP44 rating provides protection against splashing water, allowing it to be installed in bathroom zone 2. The semi-flush design keeps the fitting close to the ceiling while the pressed glass bowl projects downward to distribute light across the room. The natural brass finish shows a warmer, slightly more golden tone than polished brass, developing a gentle patina over time.

The pressed glass shade is moulded with horizontal ribbing that creates visual texture when unlit and scatters light when illuminated, reducing glare and creating a softer distribution than clear glass. The brass canopy and collar that hold the shade are finished to match, with decorative brass ball screws securing the shade to the mount. Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating provides protection against splashing water, making the Dublin suitable for bathroom zone 2. This covers installation outside shower enclosures and away from direct water jets. It cannot be installed inside a shower enclosure or directly above a bath without a protective barrier.

What bulb does it take?

The Dublin takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 5-8W and 2700K-3000K for general bathroom lighting.

Will the natural brass tarnish?

Natural brass develops a patina over time as the metal oxidises, darkening slightly and developing a richer, aged tone. This is a characteristic of unlacquered brass finishes. If you prefer the brighter original tone, the brass can be polished occasionally with a brass cleaning cloth.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting projects 205mm from the ceiling. In bathrooms and hallways with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above, this leaves adequate clearance for movement. Lower ceilings may still accommodate the fitting but will reduce headroom in the centre of the room.
