Description

The Knightsbridge CL89PC is a dual voltage shaver socket providing both 115V and 230V AC outputs at 20VA behind a polished chrome rounded edge faceplate with a black insert. The dual voltage function allows the socket to accept both UK/European 230V shavers and North American/Japanese 115V models without needing a separate travel adaptor.

Designed for bathroom installation, the socket carries an IP41 rating for protection against dripping water and solid objects above 1mm diameter. This makes it suitable for general bathroom zones outside of the immediate shower enclosure or directly above a bath. The built-in gasket between the faceplate and the mounting box creates a seal that improves the IP protection and gives a cleaner edge finish once installed.

The rounded edge design softens the profile against the wall compared to square-edged plates, and the polished chrome finish pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and shower fittings common in contemporary bathrooms. The faceplate is premium grade steel with a reflective mirror-polish surface. The socket is EN 61558 certified and carries a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed for installation. The faceplate adds 7.5mm projection from the wall once fitted.

Can this be used in a shower enclosure?

No. The IP41 rating protects against dripping water but not direct spray or splashing. The socket must be installed outside immediate shower zones and bath splash areas, typically at least 600mm away from the bath edge or shower tray.

Does it work with both 2-pin and 3-pin shavers?

The socket accepts standard 2-pin shaver plugs used across most countries. It does not accept UK 3-pin plugs — the aperture is specifically designed for shaver and toothbrush chargers only.

What does dual voltage mean?
