Description

The Knightsbridge dual voltage shaver socket provides both 115V and 230V outputs at 20VA, allowing use with UK and international shavers and electric toothbrushes behind a matt black screwless faceplate. The IP41 rating provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and dripping water, making it suitable for bathrooms outside the immediate shower enclosure zones.

Designed for residential bathroom installation, the socket fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. The dual voltage outputs are selected automatically based on which shaver plug is inserted — there is no manual voltage switch. The integrated gasket between the faceplate and sub-frame provides the IP41 environmental protection.

The matt black finish on the steel faceplate gives a low-sheen surface that pairs well with matt black taps, shower fittings and towel rails in contemporary bathroom schemes. The screwless design hides all fixings behind the clipped cover plate, giving a flush finish with no visible fasteners. The socket is EN 61558 certified and carries a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

How does the dual voltage work?

The socket automatically detects and provides the correct voltage based on which plug is inserted. A 115V shaver draws 115V; a 230V shaver draws 230V. There is no manual voltage selector switch.

Where can this be installed in a bathroom?

The IP41 rating makes it suitable for bathrooms outside the immediate shower enclosure zones (typically zones 0, 1 and 2 as defined by BS 7671). It should be positioned at least 600mm from a bath edge or shower tray and not directly above a bath or sink where splashing occurs.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once clipped onto the sub-frame.

Can it be used for electric toothbrushes?

Yes, provided the toothbrush charging base draws no more than 20VA and uses either a 115V or 230V rated charger. Most electric toothbrush chargers are designed for continuous use on shaver sockets.
