Description
The Kichler Dreyfus is a 420mm semi-flush ceiling light with three E27 bulb fittings mounted inside a shallow opal glass bowl, topped with an olde bronze metal frame and a removable optical crystal accent beneath the bowl. The fitting projects 310mm from the ceiling with the crystal accent attached, or 245mm with the crystal removed, making it adaptable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or lower where a full pendant would hang too low.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms and living rooms where a flush-mount provides insufficient light but a pendant isn't practical, the Dreyfus sits close to the ceiling while still offering three-bulb output. The opal glass bowl diffuses light evenly across the ceiling plane, reducing harsh shadows and providing general ambient illumination. The removable crystal accent beneath the bowl adds a decorative element when ceiling height allows, but can be detached during installation to reduce the overall drop by 65mm.
The olde bronze finish on the metal frame and canopy provides a warm, slightly aged tone that sits between polished bronze and oil-rubbed bronze, pairing well with warm neutrals, cream walls and natural wood furniture. The glass bowl is etched on the interior to soften the light output from the three bare bulbs (sold separately), with each E27 socket accepting up to 60W. The fitting weighs approximately 3kg fully assembled and mounts to a standard UK ceiling rose.

Frequently Asked
Is this suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. With the crystal accent removed, the fitting projects 245mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or lower. With the crystal attached, the total drop is 310mm.
What bulbs does it take?
Three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting in bedrooms or living rooms.
Can the crystal accent be removed after installation?
The crystal is designed to be removed or attached during initial installation to suit the ceiling height. Removing it after installation would require taking the fitting down again, so it's best to decide on crystal use before fitting.
Is it dimmable?
Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you choose. The fitting itself has no integrated electronics. If you fit dimmable LED bulbs and have a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit, the light output can be controlled.
