Description
The Kichler Dreyfus is a 420mm semi-flush ceiling light with three E27 bulb holders housed beneath a shallow opal glass bowl, framed by a brushed nickel metal canopy and rods. A removable optical crystal finial hangs below the bowl on a polished chrome stem, adding 65mm to the overall drop when fitted. The metal canopy sits 245mm below the ceiling when the crystal is removed, or 310mm when the crystal is left in place.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms and dining rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 2.7m, the Dreyfus provides ambient light through the frosted glass diffuser while the crystal finial reflects and refracts some of that light back into the room. The semi-flush mounting keeps the fitting close to the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms where a full pendant would hang too low or where a flush-mount would feel too flat. The 420mm diameter covers a larger ceiling rose than typical semi-flush fittings, making it useful for rooms where the previous light fitting was larger.
The brushed nickel finish on the canopy and support rods reduces reflections compared to polished chrome or brass, and pairs with cooler-toned interiors, grey walls and stainless steel fixtures. The opal glass bowl diffuses light evenly across a 3-4m room without glare, and the three E27 sockets accept standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately). Most users pair this with 8-12W LED bulbs in 2700K or 3000K for living spaces, or 4000K for hallways and utility areas.
The crystal finial is secured by a threaded fitting and can be removed for lower-ceiling installations or where a cleaner profile is preferred. Removing it reduces the projection and gives the fitting a simpler geometric appearance. The glass bowl lifts off the metal frame for bulb changes without requiring tools.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Dreyfus has three E27 (Edison screw) sockets, each rated for bulbs up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit 8-12W LED bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for living spaces, or cool white (4000K) for hallways.
Can the crystal finial be removed?
Yes. The optical crystal finial is removable via a threaded fitting. Removing it reduces the overall drop from 310mm to 245mm and gives the fitting a cleaner, simpler profile for lower ceilings.
What ceiling height is needed?
The fitting works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. At 2.4m the base of the glass bowl sits approximately 2.1m above the floor (with crystal fitted), which is high enough to walk under comfortably. Lower ceilings should use the fitting without the crystal finial.
How is the glass bowl removed for bulb changes?
The opal glass bowl lifts off the metal support frame once the crystal finial is unscrewed. No tools are required. The bowl is held in place by the weight of the crystal when fitted, or rests on the support rods when the crystal is removed.
