Description

Sold as a bare suspension, this is the practical way to hang a single lamp where the lamp itself is what you want seen. The plastic base measures 90mm across and is finished in a mid blue, with a soft silicone cover over the E27 lampholder below it. Flex allows a drop of up to 1.5m, so it can hang low over a worktop or long in a stairwell. It takes an LED lamp up to 20W, and it will dim given a compatible lamp and dimmer.

We keep this for people who have already chosen their lamp: a fat globe, a squirrel cage, a shaped filament with some presence of its own. Hung in a row above a kitchen island or a refectory table, several read as a set with nothing to compete with the glass. On its own it suits a bedside table, a small hallway, a workshop corner or a child's room, where a spot of colour does more good than another metal finish. It is the one we reach for when a shade would only crowd the space.

The base is moulded plastic and very light in the hand, and the silicone cover gives the lampholder a slightly rubbery, forgiving surface. It is double insulated, and should stay in dry rooms well away from steam and splashes. To clean, switch off at the wall, let any lamp cool right down, then run a barely damp cloth over the base and cover and dry it straight after; nothing abrasive, as the blue is a surface you can dull. It carries a two year warranty. Elsewhere in the Dreifa range there are ceiling lights in matt black, matt white, satin nickel, antique brass and polished chrome, along with curved linear and curved round pendant frames for multiple lamps.
