Description

A compact switched wall light finished in black chrome with black, the two tones reading more like good hardware than decoration. A toggle switch sits on the fitting itself, so the light can be turned on and off where you stand rather than from across the room. It takes a single E27 lamp of up to 20W, and where you want the level to come down, a dimmable lamp with a separate dimmer will do it.

We reach for something like this beside a bed, where the switch on the body saves hunting for a plate in the dark and the small body keeps the bedside table clear and a socket free for a charger. It suits a reading chair, a narrow hallway, a landing or a nook in a home office just as well, and a pair set either side of a headboard or a mirror looks deliberate. The modest width makes it useful in rooms where a broader fitting would crowd the wall.

The black chrome plating holds its depth of colour under a warm lamp, and the black sections keep the whole thing from looking fussy. An occasional wipe with a dry, soft cloth is all it asks; leave polishes, sprays and anything abrasive alone, as they will dull the plating. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, away from splashes and steam. It carries a one year warranty.
