Description

The Drawing Room is a 356mm diameter flush ceiling light with a pressed glass bowl held by a cast metal frame in a walnut finish, housing three E27 bulb fittings behind the glass. The metal frame features overlapping arch fretwork that runs around the circumference of the fitting, with matching fluted detailing on the pressed glass bowl and a turned finial at the base. The 229mm projection from ceiling to finial suits rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for hallways, landings, bedrooms and living rooms where ceiling clearance is limited, the Drawing Room provides ambient light distributed through the frosted glass bowl rather than directed downlight. The three E27 sockets accept standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose the light temperature and brightness that suits the room. The walnut finish on the cast metal frame provides a mid-tone brown that pairs with both traditional wood furniture and warmer contemporary interiors.

The fretwork pattern on the frame is cast rather than stamped, giving depth to the overlapping arches and allowing light from the bulbs to escape through the gaps in the metalwork as well as through the glass bowl. This creates a layered light effect where some illumination projects onto the ceiling through the fretwork while the main output diffuses downward through the frosted glass. The turned finial at the base adds weight to the design and echoes the fluted detailing found in the pressed glass and the frame's edge moulding.

Frequently Asked

Is this suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 229mm projection from ceiling to finial means the fitting suits rooms with 2.4m ceiling heights without hanging too low. This makes it a practical choice for bedrooms, hallways and living rooms where a pendant would intrude into headroom.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting houses three E27 (Edison screw) sockets, each rated up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to match the traditional finish of the walnut frame.

Does light come through the fretwork as well as the glass?

Yes. The overlapping arch fretwork around the frame is open cast metalwork, allowing some light from the bulbs to escape upward onto the ceiling as well as downward through the frosted glass bowl. This creates a layered ambient effect rather than purely downlight.

How is the glass bowl cleaned?

The glass bowl can be removed by unscrewing the finial at the base and lowering the bowl from the metal frame. Clean with a standard glass cleaner and dry before refitting. The cast metal frame can be wiped with a dry or barely-damp cloth to remove dust from the fretwork detail.
