Description

The Dravanne is a set of three round LED downlights in white, each with an aluminium body, finned at the back, and a smooth, wide trim around a recessed lens. Each light is 8.8cm across and needs only 4.6cm of depth above the ceiling, so it slips into a shallow void without fuss. The LEDs are integrated, drawing 5W and giving 500 lumens per light. Rated IP65, the downlights are sealed against dust and protected from jets of water, so they are not limited to dry rooms.

We like them in a hallway or along a landing, where three in a row lay an even pool of light on the floor and wash softly across the walls. They are just as much at home in a kitchen, over a worktop, or in a bathroom ceiling, where a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone. That IP65 rating also means the set suits the ceiling of a covered porch or a canopy by the back door. Pick 2700K for a warm light in a living room or bedroom, 4000K for a crisp neutral light in a kitchen or utility room, or 6500K for a cool daylight in a study or garage.

The colour temperature is chosen at the light itself, so each downlight can be set to suit its own room. They are not dimmable and have no switch of their own, so they run from an ordinary wall switch. Aluminium carries heat away well, which helps an LED tucked into a ceiling. Sprung clips at the sides hold each light snugly against the ceiling, and the energy class is E. As a wired mains light, the set is installed by a qualified electrician, and each light needs a cut-out 6.8cm in diameter. The installation instructions come as a PDF download, and the set weighs 0.663KG packed.
