Description

The Drasmena is a compact flush ceiling light in white, with a white steel body that sits close to the ceiling and a domed shade of matt opal glass. It is 20cm in diameter and just 9.2cm high, so it keeps a low profile in rooms where a pendant would hang too low. It takes a single E27 bulb of up to 60W, which you choose yourself, as the bulb is not included. With an IP20 rating it is made for dry rooms indoors, so it is not one for a bathroom or an outdoor wall.

Because it sits flush, the Drasmena suits lower ceilings and busy spaces where heads pass close to the light: hallways, landings, bedrooms and box rooms. It works just as well in a living room, where the opal glass spreads a soft, even glow over the whole space rather than a hard spot of light. At this size it is a good choice for smaller rooms, or fitted in pairs along a corridor. The plain white finish blends with a white or pale ceiling, so the light looks like part of the room rather than an object that asks for attention.

There is no switch on the fitting itself, as it is switched at the wall and runs from the light switch you already have. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. The opal glass diffuses the bulb, so you see a glowing dome rather than a bright point, and glass wipes clean with a soft, dry cloth. Packed, it weighs a modest 0.918KG. For the bulb, any E27 lamp of up to 60W will suit, so you can pick the colour of light that best fits the room.
