Description

This dragon claw goblet glass is made of resin and finished in a metallic-effect green, with a dragon's head glaring from the front of the bowl. Its scaled brow sweeps back in layered horns, two small red eyes sit beneath it, and more dragon heads curl round the sides of the bowl. Gold knotwork bands circle the top of the bowl and the stem, and a gold knotwork motif sits on the back against the black of the bowl. The stem is a scaled dragon's leg in green, opening into gold-tipped claws that form the foot. It measures 17cm tall and 9.5cm wide and deep, with a bright silver-toned rim at the top.

We see it on a bookshelf, a mantelpiece or a dresser, wherever a touch of myth and fantasy belongs. It suits a study, a reading corner or a gothic-styled living room, and it brings a bold accent to a fantasy-themed table. At 17cm tall it is compact enough for a narrow shelf, yet the detail is rich enough for it to hold its own on a sideboard. It also makes a characterful gift for a home that leans towards dragons and old tales.

The resin holds the fine detail well, from the overlapping scales on the stem to the plaited lines of the knotwork, and the gold picks out the raised edges so every ridge shows. The deep black of the bowl lets the green dragons and gold bands stand out clearly. The spread of claws gives it a broad, steady foot, so it sits firmly on a flat surface. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth and wipe it with a slightly damp cloth when needed. Set it at eye level, where the dragon's face and red eyes meet the gaze, and it becomes the piece guests notice first.
