Description

The Dracera is a cascading 17 light pendant in black, made for rooms with real height. A round black steel canopy holds seventeen fine black cords, each dropping to a small dome-shaped head beneath a curved, leaf-like steel shade that is gold on one face and black on the other. The drops hang at staggered lengths, so the cluster tapers as it falls. Overall it is 220cm tall and 78cm in diameter. Each head carries an integrated LED of 2.3W giving 280 lumens at 3000K, a warm light. The IP20 rating settles where it lives: indoors, in a dry room.

With so much drop, this pendant suits a stairwell, a double-height hallway or an open living space with a lofty ceiling, where one light has to fill a tall void. Seventeen points of light at different levels spread the glow through the space instead of keeping it close to the ceiling, and the gold faces of the shades pick up a warm sheen whenever the LEDs are lit. After dark it reads as a soft constellation; by day the black and gold leaves still give the room a point of interest. It is dimmable, so the same fitting can go from bright and welcoming to low and calm for the evening.

Both the body and the shades are steel, with the canopy, cords and light heads in black and each shade two-toned in gold and black. There is no switch on the pendant itself, as it is switched at the wall, and the LEDs are integrated, so there is no separate bulb to buy. It runs on 220-240V mains and has an energy class of E. As a wired-in mains light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. It weighs 16KG packed, so a second pair of hands helps when it comes out of the box.
