Douille Table Lamp - Black & Polished Brass

The Douille is a 686mm table lamp built around a vertical black metal frame with polished brass collar fittings and a curved brass arm that suspends a ribbed glass shade from an E27 bulb holder. The heavy brass castings at the top, mid-point and base give the lamp structural weight and an industrial reference, while the ribbed glass bell diffuses the light from a single E27 bulb (sold separately).

Designed for bedside tables, desks and side tables in living areas, the Douille pairs directed task light with decorative presence. The vertical frame stands 686mm tall from a circular black base 150mm in diameter, positioning the lamp head at a comfortable reading height when placed beside an armchair or at the edge of a bedside table. The glass shade sits open at the bottom, so the bulb choice directly affects the light quality — a warm-white LED filament bulb at 2700K gives vintage character, while a standard frosted LED provides more even diffusion.

The black powder-coated metal frame contrasts with the polished brass hardware without needing maintenance beyond occasional dusting. The ribbed glass shade is removable for cleaning or bulb replacement by lifting it clear of the brass collar. The lamp accepts any E27 bulb up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose brightness and colour temperature based on room function. The combined black and brass finish works across traditional, mid-century and contemporary interiors where mixed metal accents are already present.

What bulb does it take?

The Douille takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a vintage-style LED filament bulb at 4-6W and 2700K to show the bulb through the ribbed glass, or a standard frosted LED for more even light output.

Is the glass shade removable?

Yes. The ribbed glass bell lifts clear of the brass collar for cleaning or bulb replacement. Handle the glass carefully — it is not toughened and can chip if knocked against hard surfaces.

What surface does it need?

The circular base is 150mm in diameter and sits flat on any stable surface. The lamp weighs approximately 2kg due to the heavy brass castings, so it needs a table or bedside unit capable of supporting that load without tipping.

Can the lamp head be adjusted?

No. The brass arm and lamp head position are fixed. The lamp is designed to provide downward and outward light from a set height of 686mm, rather than directional task lighting with an adjustable head.
