Description

The Dot is a single-light recessed downlight with a tiltable inner gimbal and a plaster-in trim frame designed to sit flush with plasterboard ceilings. The fitting is constructed from black-painted aluminium with a perforated mounting flange and accepts a single GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately). The inner gimbal tilts to direct the beam up to approximately 30° from vertical, allowing light to be aimed at walls, artwork or specific furniture positions rather than straight down.

Designed for plasterboard ceiling installation in residential and commercial interiors, the Dot requires a circular ceiling cut-out of approximately 90mm diameter. The perforated flange sits above the ceiling surface and is plastered over during installation, leaving only the black recessed bezel and lamp aperture visible once finished. This creates a seamless integration with the ceiling plane. The fitting suits living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, retail spaces and hospitality environments where accent lighting or directed task light is needed without visible surface-mount hardware.

The matt black finish on the aluminium trim provides a strong contrast against white or light-toned ceilings, making the fitting a visible design element rather than a concealed light source. The tilt mechanism uses a friction joint that holds the selected beam angle without drifting. The GU10 socket accepts LED, halogen or other GU10-compatible lamps, giving flexibility to choose beam width, colour temperature and output based on the application. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only.

Frequently Asked

How is the plaster-in trim installed?

The fitting requires a circular cut-out in the plasterboard ceiling (approximately 90mm diameter). The perforated mounting flange sits above the ceiling surface and is skimmed over with plaster during finishing. Once the plaster sets and is painted, only the black recessed bezel and lamp aperture remain visible from below.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting accepts a single GU10 bulb up to 50W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use GU10 LED lamps between 4-7W and 2700K-4000K depending on whether warm or neutral light is needed.

Can the beam be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The inner gimbal tilts on a friction joint, allowing the beam to be angled up to approximately 30° from vertical. The joint holds the selected angle without needing to be locked or tightened.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, wetrooms or any space where it may be exposed to moisture or condensation.
