Doreth Large Dome Alabaster Pendant Light - Soft White & Brushed Brass

The Doreth is a 300mm alabaster pendant light built around a tiered dome shade cut from natural Spanish alabaster, capped with a brushed brass stem connector and suspended on a black braided flex. A smaller alabaster drum sits above the main dome, giving the shade a two-stage silhouette rather than a single rounded form. The fitting takes one E27 bulb (sold separately), with the alabaster acting as both shade and diffuser.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables, breakfast bars and entrance halls, the Doreth works as ambient and decorative lighting rather than directed task light. The 200mm height and 300mm diameter suit ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards, and the pendant typically hangs 700-800mm above a dining surface or 600-900mm above a worktop. Multiple units can be hung in a row above longer islands or tables, spaced roughly equal to the shade diameter.

Each shade is cut from a single block of Spanish alabaster, so the cream and honey veining, mineral pockets and tonal shifts vary between pieces — no two Doreth pendants are identical when lit. The brushed brass cap adds a warm metallic accent at the top of the shade, and a matt black detail at the cable entry sharpens the transition between flex and stone. Combined, the layered shade and mixed-finish hardware give the pendant a substantial, architectural presence without heavy ornament.

What bulb does the Doreth take?

The pendant takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K suits the alabaster best, allowing the cream and honey veining in the stone to read clearly when lit.

Does each pendant look the same?

No. Each shade is cut from a single block of natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect, and is most visible when the pendant is illuminated.

What ceiling height is needed?

The flex drop is adjustable on installation. Above a dining table or kitchen island the pendant typically sits 700-800mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher. The flex can be shortened during fitting to suit lower ceilings.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners.
