Description

The Dilmorne is a slim, round LED downlight that sits recessed into the ceiling, with a satin nickel aluminium rim framing a white plastic diffuser. It measures 11.7cm across and needs just 2cm of recess depth, which makes it a good answer for shallow ceiling voids where a deeper downlight would not fit. The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or change: it draws 5.5W and gives 650lm of warm white light at 3000K. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms.

The flexible cut-out is its most useful feature. It fits a hole anywhere from 6.8cm to 10cm across, so it can often go straight into an existing opening left by an older downlight, without the ceiling needing to be cut larger. We would put a row of them along a hallway or landing, or space several across a living room, bedroom or study ceiling for an even spread of warm white light. The satin nickel rim has a gentle metallic lustre that sits quietly against white plaster, and it pairs well with brushed metal switch plates and door handles.

Spring clips hold the downlight in place in the ceiling, and the brushed satin nickel finish on the aluminium rim gives a soft sheen rather than a mirror shine. It is not dimmable and has no switch of its own, so it is switched at the wall: pair it with a standard on and off switch rather than a dimmer.
