Dilmorne LED Downlight Cool White - Satin Nickel

Our Dilmorne is a slim, round LED downlight: a satin nickel rim framing a white plastic diffuser, with an aluminium body behind it. It measures 11.7cm across and needs a recess depth of just 2cm, so it sits almost flush and takes up very little room inside the ceiling. The light source is an integrated LED drawing 5.5W and giving 700 lumens of cool white light at 4000K, a crisp, clear tone for seeing what you are doing. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, and never in a bathroom or a garden.

That shallow depth makes it a good choice for ceilings where space behind the surface is tight, and it suits a kitchen, a hallway, a landing, a home office or a utility room. Cool white light at this level is well matched to tasks: preparing food at a worktop, reading at a desk or finding clothes in a dressing area. The satin nickel finish has a fine brushed look that sits comfortably beside stainless steel appliances, chrome handles and white or grey schemes, and a row of them gives a ceiling a tidy, even spread of light without any hanging shade.

The cut-out takes any hole between 6.8cm and 10cm across, a generous span that helps when you are replacing older downlights and the holes are already cut. Two spring clips on the sides grip the back of the ceiling and hold the rim in place. It is not dimmable and has no switch of its own, so it runs from your ordinary wall switch on a 220 to 240V, 50/60Hz mains supply, with an energy class of E. As a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician. Before ordering, measure your existing holes and check there is 2cm of depth behind each one.

Can the Dilmorne go in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs in dry indoor rooms only, so keep it away from bathrooms, showers and anywhere outdoors.
