The Desigual is a 1.7m floor lamp built around a matt black rectangular frame with a frosted white spherical glass shade suspended inside the upper section. The open cube structure measures 300mm square at the base and top, with the globe positioned in the top third of the frame. An E27 socket inside the globe accepts any standard screw bulb up to the manufacturer's wattage limit, sold separately.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and lounge areas where height and visual presence matter, the Desigual works as both ambient light and a sculptural element. The 1.7m height brings the light source to roughly eye level when seated, making it useful next to sofas or armchairs where reading light is needed without a traditional shade blocking sightlines. The matt black frame is powder-coated steel, giving the lamp a 9.1kg weight that keeps it stable on most floor surfaces without tipping. The frosted globe diffuses the bulb evenly in all directions, casting soft ambient light upward through the open top of the frame and downward through the lower section. The contrast between the black rectilinear cage and the white sphere creates a geometric interplay that suits modern, industrial and mid-century interiors.

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb chosen — LED filament-style bulbs rated as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge dimmers, while standard non-dimmable LEDs will not. The frame uses a foot switch on the cable approximately 300mm from the base, allowing the lamp to be turned on and off without reaching behind furniture.

What bulb does the Desigual take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with an 8-12W LED filament bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) to balance ambient light output with the frosted globe diffusion.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb you choose. Pair the lamp with an E27 LED bulb marked as dimmable, and use a trailing-edge dimmer switch. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not respond to a dimmer and may flicker.

How stable is it on carpets?

The 300mm square base and 9.1kg weight give the Desigual good stability on most carpets and rugs. On very thick pile or shag rugs, positioning the base where at least part of it sits on bare floor will prevent tipping if nudged.

Does the globe shade need cleaning?

Frosted glass attracts dust over time. Wipe the globe with a dry microfibre cloth while the lamp is switched off and unplugged. For stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry immediately to avoid water spots.
