Description

Three opal glass shades sit in a bright polished chrome frame, giving a fitting that reads clean and simple from below. It measures 43cm across, so it fills a modest ceiling without crowding it. The glass is opal rather than clear, which softens the light and keeps the lamps from glaring when you look up. E14 golf ball lamps suit it best; they are compact enough to sit tidily within the shades. We reach for this one when a room wants more light than a single pendant gives.

Hallways and landings take it well, and so do bedrooms and small dining rooms where a low hanging light would be in the way. Chrome sits comfortably alongside the handles, taps and mirror frames already in a modern home, and the opal glass keeps the look quiet rather than busy. It suits a rented flat or a first home where the budget matters and the fitting still needs to look considered. Dimming is possible provided the lamps you choose are dimmable and the switch is matched to them. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; damp and steam are not its territory.

The metalwork carries a polished chrome finish that shows fingerprints if handled, so a dry microfibre cloth now and then keeps it looking sharp; the glass takes a barely damp cloth and a buff dry once the power is off and everything is cool. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock a wider semi flush version in the same chrome and opal glass, which is worth a look if your ceiling is on the low side or the room is larger.
