Deco Half Lantern Outdoor Wall Light - Black

The Deco is a half-lantern outdoor wall light cast from solid aluminium in a matt black finish, fitted with clear polycarbonate panels and a mirrored backplate that reflects light forward. The lantern measures 325mm high by 193mm wide with a 110mm projection from the wall, and houses a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately). The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, entranceways and exterior walls under eaves.

Designed for residential and hospitality exterior lighting, the Deco mounts to a standard outdoor back box and provides directed light downward and forward across doorways, patios and exterior walkways. The mirrored backplate doubles the light output by reflecting it through the front and side panels rather than absorbing it into the wall. The half-lantern form sits flush against the wall, reducing the projection compared to full-surround lanterns while maintaining similar light spread.

The cast aluminium body resists corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments, and the matt black powder-coat finish provides UV resistance to prevent fading under direct sunlight. The polycarbonate glazing is impact-resistant and lighter than glass, reducing the risk of breakage from accidental knocks or windborne debris. The fitting arrives with a 5-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 protects against splashing water from any direction, making the Deco safe for installation under covered porches, eaves and carports. It is not fully weatherproof for exposed positions in driving rain or direct water jets. For fully exposed walls without overhead cover, an IP65 fitting provides better protection.

What bulb should I use?

The E27 socket accepts any standard Edison-screw bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED filament bulb in 2200K-2700K warm white to match the traditional lantern aesthetic. A clear or amber glass bulb shows through the polycarbonate panels and contributes to the visual effect when lit.

How does the mirrored backplate work?

The mirrored surface reflects light forward through the front and side panels instead of letting it absorb into the wall. This approximately doubles the useful light output compared to a non-reflective back, providing better illumination across doorways and walkways without increasing wattage.

Can it be installed on a rendered or plastered wall?

Yes. The fitting mounts to a standard outdoor back box, which is fixed into the wall substrate (brick, block or timber frame behind render). The 110mm projection clears most render finishes, and the mounting plate covers the back box and cable entry point once installed.
