Description

A neat white converter that lets a GU10 lamp sit in an E14 lampholder, so a small screw fitting can take a directional reflector lamp instead of a candle. The body measures about 35mm across, compact enough to stay out of the way inside a shade or behind a glass diffuser. It is rated to a maximum of 50W, and the lamp goes in with the usual quarter turn once the converter is in place.

We stock this for the moment when the holder and the lamp refuse to agree: a wall light or small pendant with a candle holder, and a drawer of GU10 reflectors already at home. It suits anyone moving a room over to a single type of lamp, and it is an inexpensive way to change the character of a light, since a reflector throws a tighter pool where a candle lamp spreads wide. We would put an LED reflector in it rather than halogen, mostly for the running cost over a year of evenings.

The casing is white throughout, which keeps it quiet against a pale holder or the inside of a light shade. For cleaning, switch the light off and give the lamp time to cool, then withdraw it and wipe the converter over with a dry cloth before putting the lamp back. It carries a one year warranty. If your mismatch runs the other way, the same range covers conversions between B22, E27, E14, G9 and GU10 holders, plus inline dimmers for table and floor lamps. The lamp itself is not included.
