Description

A screw fit lamp will not go into a bayonet holder, and this small white converter is the answer to that. The base is a B22 pin fitting that twists into the existing lampholder, and the top presents an E27 thread ready for whichever lamp you have chosen. At 33mm across it stays tucked away inside most shades, and it accepts lamps up to 20W, which LED handles very comfortably indeed.

We reach for these more often than almost anything else in the accessories drawer. Older pendants, aged brass wall lights and inherited standard lamps very often carry bayonet holders, while the lamp you actually want, a warm globe or a candle style LED, arrives with a screw cap instead. Rather than give up on a shade you like, add the converter and carry on as you were. It suits rented rooms where the fitting is not yours to change, and it saves a good fitting from being written off over nothing more than a mismatched cap.

The white finish keeps it quiet against a ceiling rose or hidden behind a shade, so nothing draws the eye where the lamp meets the holder. To clean, switch the light off at the wall, let everything go cold, then wipe only the outer body with a dry cloth and leave the contacts untouched. It carries a one year warranty. A lamp is not included, and we would put an LED in here rather than anything hotter.
