Description

This is the small part that gets you out of a corner: a white converter that turns a GU10 lampholder into one that will accept a screw-in E27 lamp. It measures 33mm across and stands a little under 57mm, so it adds very little bulk above the holder. One lamp, up to 50W, and an LED is what we would put in it. The plain white body stays quiet against a pale shade or a white ceiling.

We reach for one of these when a fitting has the wrong holder for the lamp somebody already owns, or when a shade, a decorative filament lamp or an oversized globe is only made with a screw cap. It suits pendants, table and floor lamps and ceiling fittings around the house, and it earns its keep in a rented flat where swapping the fitting itself is out of the question. Since it raises the lamp a touch above the holder, it is worth checking the clearance inside an enclosed shade before choosing which lamp goes in it.

The body is moulded in white with the contacts set into the base, and the whole thing is light enough to be forgotten once a lamp is in place. Looking after it asks for very little: switch off at the wall, take the lamp out, then a dry cloth over the outside, and keep it well away from damp rooms and anything outdoors. It carries a one year warranty. Across the range we stock converters that run the other way, from E27 to B22, along with E14 to GU10 and B22 to G9, plus inline dimmers for lamp flexes, so most mismatches between holder and lamp can be sorted for the price of a coffee. No lamp is supplied with it.
