Description

The Damasco 1 is a slim cylindrical table lamp: a white satin glass shade rising from a short round base in satin nickel. It stands 21.5cm tall and 10cm across, so it takes up little room on a bedside table, a desk or a narrow console. The body is steel, and the satin glass gives the white shade a soft, even look whether the lamp is lit or not. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W, which you choose yourself, since the bulb is not included. The IP rating is IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms.

Its size makes it a natural choice for a bedside, a side table beside the sofa, a hallway shelf or a home office desk, anywhere you want a low, gentle pool of light rather than a bright overhead glare. Because the shade is white glass rather than fabric, it sits comfortably alongside both warm woods and cool greys, and the satin nickel base picks up other brushed metal pieces in a room. Set a pair either side of a bed or a mantelpiece for a tidy, balanced look. IP20 means it is meant for dry indoor spaces, so keep it away from bathrooms and out of the garden.

The satin nickel finish has a soft brushed sheen rather than a mirror shine, and steel is strong and holds its shape. A cord switch sits within easy reach, so you can turn the lamp off and on without feeling round the shade in the dark. The lamp is rated for 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and packed it weighs 0.596KG, light enough to move from room to room whenever you fancy a change. Glass wipes clean with a soft, dry cloth, and the installation instructions come as a download. Our practical tip: have an E27 bulb of up to 60W ready, since the lamp arrives without one.
