Description

Wide, shallow and bright, this fitting sits close to the ceiling and spreads its light across a room rather than dropping it in a pool. The metalwork is polished chrome, so it picks up daylight and lamplight alike, and the acrylic shading combines red with opal white to diffuse the four E27 lamps held behind it. At 67cm across it is one of the larger flush fittings we stock, and it reads as a single clean disc when seen from below.

We reach for this where ceiling height is tight and a pendant would hang into head space: a kitchen-diner, a broad landing, a hallway that needs lighting end to end. The spread is ambient rather than directional, so it works well as the main light in a family room with table lamps for reading alongside. With suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer fitted, the output can be taken down for the evening. Keep it to dry interior rooms; a bathroom or a covered porch asks for something sealed.

Acrylic keeps the weight and the cost sensible for a fitting of this width, and the opal sections carry colour without going murky once lit. The chrome is polished rather than brushed, so it stays crisp against a white ceiling. Dust it with a dry microfibre cloth; for fingerprints, a cloth just damp with warm water is enough, as solvents and cream cleaners will haze acrylic permanently. It carries a one year warranty. Lamp choice is yours, and we would fit LED GLS globes here. Within the range, the same size comes with black and white acrylic in place of the red, and there are smaller versions as well as hanging versions.
