Description

This cheerful yellow money box is shaped like a giant building block, with six round studs across its top and a see-through window on the front printed with the words Dad's TAXI. Chequered bands of black squares run along the top and bottom of the window, just like the markings on a cab, and the bold lettering is centred between them in black and gold. It stands 11cm tall, 12cm wide and 8.5cm deep, a compact size that sits comfortably on a shelf or desk without crowding it.

We think it suits any dad who spends his evenings and weekends ferrying the family about, to football practice, to friends' houses and back again. Drop the spare change from each run inside and watch the fund build up behind the window, whether it goes towards fuel, a treat or simply a joke at the expense of the household chauffeur. It sits happily on a hallway table by the car keys, on a desk at home or on a shelf in the study, and the bright yellow makes it easy to spot. As a gift for a dad from the children, it raises a smile on the day and keeps being useful long after it is unwrapped.

The money box is made from plastic in a solid, sunny yellow, and the window lets everyone see how the savings are coming along. Its flat base means it stands freely on any level surface, so it needs no wall and no fixings. To keep it looking bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth and wipe it over with a damp cloth when needed. For a finishing touch, tuck a few coins inside before you wrap it, so the first fare is already paid.
