Description

The rim here is cut crystal rather than pressed metal, and the spectrum finish gives it a faint shift of colour as you move past it, cool one moment and warmer the next. It is round, 90mm across the face, and shallow, so it sits tight to the ceiling line. Light passing through the facets scatters small points of brightness onto the ceiling around it, which is the whole point of a crystal rim: the plain white circle becomes something worth looking at.

We reach for these where a run of ordinary bezels would say nothing at all: a hallway, a dressing room, the ceiling above a stair, or a dining area that wants a little sparkle without anything hanging down. This is a rim only and non-electrical, so it pairs with the IL30800 component kit, which carries the lampholder and retaining ring, and the lamp is bought separately. Dimming is possible provided the lamp you choose is dimmable and matched to a suitable dimmer. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from steam and splashing.

The crystal is Diyas Select grade, faceted and clear-edged, and light in the hand. Wipe it with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away so nothing dulls the facets; fingerprints read more plainly on crystal than on metal, so hold the face by its edge when handling it. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same idea in a chamfered round profile and in bubble and cluster patterns, with square rims among them, and the component kits come in satin black, aged brass and polished chrome should you want the visible metalwork to agree with the rest of the room. Lamps are not included.
