Description

This is the crystal rim on its own: a round, shallow bezel in clear crystal that sits in place of a plain painted bezel at a 62mm cut-out. Light escaping past the edges picks up in the cut faces, so you get a small glint at the ceiling instead of a flat white circle. It is non-electrical, so the lampholder and retaining ring kit is what completes it, and we stock that kit in satin black, aged brass and polished chrome.

Because the crystal reads more like jewellery than hardware, it pays off wherever the downlights are actually in view: a hallway with a low ceiling, a dressing room, a run over a dining table, or a snug where you want a little sparkle from something small. It suits dry rooms indoors, so keep it away from shower zones and anywhere it would meet steam or weather. It will dim happily enough, provided the lamp and dimmer you pair with it are made for the job.

The crystal is a clear Diyas Select glass, cut and polished, with the rim measuring 90mm across and a shallow depth that keeps it tight to the ceiling line. Dust it with a soft brush or a dry make-up brush to get into the facets, lift fingermarks with a barely damp cloth and buff dry straight away, and keep sprays and anything abrasive well clear, as they dull cut glass quickly. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range runs to square rims as well as round, plus bubble, chamfered and cluster crystal treatments, and there are green, aqua, smoked and spectrum options if you want colour rather than clear. Mixing a couple of shapes along one corridor works better than you might expect. Lamps and the component kit are bought separately.
