Description

A rectangular rim in black crystal, with two lamp positions along its length rather than the single round aperture of a standard downlight. The crystal is Diyas Select, cut so the facets catch and hand back a little of the light passing them. The visible face measures 175mm by 90mm and the rim is shallow, sitting close against the ceiling line. It comes as the rim alone; lampholders and retaining rings are bought separately, a set per head.

Twin heads in one opening make it useful where you want a narrow band of light rather than a broad spread: along a hallway, above a console table or dressing table, or picking out an alcove or a run of shelves. Because the crystal is black, the rim reads as a dark slot in a pale ceiling when the lamps are off, which suits pared back schemes better than a bright metal trim. Dimming is possible so long as the lamps chosen are dimmable. We would keep this one to dry rooms, well away from steam and splashing.

The crystal is cut and polished with a black finish, and the rim is light in the hand. Faceted crystal shows dust sooner than a plain trim, so give it an occasional going over with a soft dry lint free cloth once the lamps have cooled, with nothing damp and no sprays near the openings. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range runs to round and square rims as well, in clear, green, aqua, spectrum and smoked crystal, and we stock the lampholder kits in satin black, aged brass and polished chrome, so a ceiling with several rims in it can still look deliberate. Lamps are not included.
