Description
This gothic goblet glass in black and beige resin wraps a crow around its bowl, wings spread wide and every feather moulded in fine detail, with its beak turned down towards a stem of stacked skulls. A band of moon phases runs around the top, from slim crescents to full silver discs, and bare branches reach across the dark bowl behind the bird like a tree against the night sky. More feathered wings fold around the back, so it looks good from every side. The foot is a mound of small skulls in bone beige, and a silver metallic effect rim finishes the top edge. It stands 17cm tall and 8cm across, with a 160ml capacity, so it fits on a narrow shelf or in a glass cabinet.
We think it belongs wherever darker decor is welcome: on a bookshelf, along a mantelpiece, on a dresser or on a side table in a study or living room. It makes a striking centrepiece for a gothic corner and sits happily beside other moody pieces in black, grey and deep purple. As a gift, it suits a friend who loves folklore, crows and ravens, a Mum with a taste for the dramatic, or a brother or sister who collects gothic curios.
The whole piece is made from resin, which holds the fine texture of the feathers, branches and skulls, and the colours are picked out in black and bone beige against that bright silver rim. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth and wipe it with a slightly damp cloth when needed, then dry it straight away; we would not soak it or scrub the coloured detail. Set it on a dark surface with a little space around it so the spread wings can be seen, or wrap it in black tissue for a gift that feels ready to open.
