Description

The Cromwell is a 2-light wall bracket hand-forged from heavy iron with an old bronze patina finish, modelled on the candle sconces found in medieval halls and castles. Two candle-style arms extend from a central cross-shaped backplate, each terminating in a dish-shaped drip tray and an upright E14 socket. The bronze patina is applied by hand and varies across the surface, giving darker tones in recesses and lighter highlights on raised edges.

Designed for hallways, stairwells, living rooms and bedside positions in homes with traditional, Gothic or heritage interiors, the Cromwell provides ambient upward light when paired with candle-shaped bulbs (sold separately). The 180mm projection from the wall positions the light sources forward of the backplate, reducing shadowing on textured walls. The 460mm width suits wall sections between doorways or above narrow console tables where a single light would appear lost.

The iron construction is solid rather than hollow tube, giving the fitting a substantial 1.8kg weight that needs secure wall fixings into masonry or studwork rather than plasterboard alone. The hand-forged texture shows hammer marks and slight asymmetry between the two arms, which is characteristic of individually worked metalwork rather than machine-pressed components.
