Description

A chest of drawers, 70cm tall, in wood. At 41cm wide it is about the width of a laptop. A chest is bought for the drawers and lived with for the top, which is nearly always the surface a lamp, a tray and everything from a pocket ends up on.

Zinc left outdoors loses its shine within a season and then stays as it is, which is either the appeal or the reason to keep it inside. Pine is a softwood, so it marks more readily than oak or beech — and takes a paint or a wash far better, because the grain drinks it in. Marks in pine read as age rather than damage. 3 drawers. 3 carrying handles.

An anti-tip wall strap is included, and on a tall piece it should be used.

Furniture fails at the joints and the runners long before the surface wears out, which is why the way a piece is put together matters more than what it is finished with. Count the drawers against what goes in them rather than against the price: deep drawers suit jumpers and bedding, shallow ones suit everything that gets lost in a deep drawer. It needs nothing beyond dusting, and a damp cloth on the finish rather than anything solvent.
