Description

A chest of drawers, 70cm tall, in wood. At 76cm it is about as wide as a standard interior door. In a bedroom it wants to be reachable without opening a wardrobe door into it, which is a check worth making with a tape measure.

Zinc weathers to a soft grey patina rather than rusting, and that dull, chalky surface is the finish people buy it for. It is a soft metal and dents rather than cracks. Pine is a softwood, so it marks more readily than oak or beech — and takes a paint or a wash far better, because the grain drinks it in. Marks in pine read as age rather than damage. 6 drawers. 6 carrying handles.

An anti-tip wall strap is included, and on a tall piece it should be used.

A panel that carries weight over a span will sag eventually if the span is long enough. Shorter shelves, or a centre support, is what prevents it — not a thicker board. Pull a drawer fully out if you can. Runners are where a cheap chest gives itself away. Dusting is all it asks for, with a damp cloth on the finish and nothing solvent or abrasive.
