Description

The Cramarne is a flush ceiling light built from overlapping square blocks of wood, with four black lampholders set into the underside. The pale wood grain and the matt black holders give the Brown & Black finish a warm, workshop feel. It measures 40cm long, 43cm wide and 14cm high, so it covers a good spread of ceiling without hanging low into the room. Each holder takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulbs are not included, so you choose the shape and colour of light yourself. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room.

We see it in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, anywhere a pendant would hang too close to people's heads. Because it sits close to the ceiling, it suits lower ceilings while still giving four points of light rather than one. Globe filament bulbs go well with the open design, as every bulb stays on show, and a warm white bulb brings out the tone of the wood. The natural wood sits comfortably beside oak or pine furniture, and the black detail ties in with black picture frames, handles or curtain poles.

The body pairs wood with steel, and the light runs on 220-240V mains at 50/60Hz. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so it works from the light switch you already have. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. The packed weight is 3.391KG. Have four E27 bulbs of up to 40W ready before fitting day, so the light can be used as soon as the electrician has finished.
