Description

A fire pit, 50cm tall, in white. At 100cm wide it is wider than a standard interior door. Distance decides comfort. Too close and it is uncomfortable within ten minutes, too far and it does nothing, and about a metre from the edge is where most people end up putting their chairs.

A cool colour recedes: it makes a piece read as further away and a room as larger, which is why cool tones suit small spaces better than their reputation for coldness suggests. Stainless steel resists corrosion through its own chemistry rather than a coating, so there is no finish to chip and nothing underneath waiting to rust when it does. Aluminium does not rust, and outdoors that is the only material question that matters in the long run. Painted steel will eventually find a scratch and start bleeding from it; this will not. Teak is the timber boats are built from, and for one reason: the natural oil in it repels water instead of absorbing it, so it holds up outdoors without a finish doing the work.

It runs on 1 Alkaline cell, supplied. A cover is available for it. It takes a Gas Canister 5kg canister, bought separately. 608 g/hr, which sets how long a canister lasts.

There is some assembly, though nothing requiring more than a screwdriver. It arrives in 2 boxes. A Yes regulator is needed. It runs on Propane.

Think about storage and weather before buying. Anything left out through a winter will need a cover, and a unit that is too heavy to move will spend the wet months exactly where you left it.
