Description

The Copillos is a linear pendant light that sets five smoked glass shades in a row along a slim black steel bar. It is 116cm long, 15cm wide and 150cm high overall, and hangs on two fine black drops from a long rectangular ceiling plate. Each cylinder shade is vaporised glass in a black-transparent tint, so the shades read as smoky grey when the light is off and glow warmly whenever the LEDs are lit. The light source is integrated LED, five lights at 5.4W each, so there are no bulbs to buy or replace. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

We think it belongs above a dining table, where its length follows the line of the table and puts light right where plates and conversation sit. Each of the five lights gives 750 lumens at 3000K, a warm white that flatters food and wood and keeps an evening meal relaxed rather than clinical. Because it is dimmable, the same pendant can give bright light for homework or a board game and then settle to a soft glow for dinner. It also suits a long desk, an open-plan living space or a hallway that needs light spread along its length rather than pooled in one spot. The black steel and smoked glass sit comfortably in a modern or monochrome scheme.

The body is steel in a black finish, and the slim bar keeps the profile light so the glass does the talking. There is no switch on the pendant itself: it is switched at the wall, and it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The packed weight is 5.247KG, and with an overall height of 150cm it is worth measuring your ceiling height before you order. The installation instructions are available as a download.
