Description

The Coniston is a 450mm flush crystal ceiling light built around eight G9 bulb fittings arranged across five tiers of facet-cut clear crystal droplets, all mounted to a polished chrome canopy. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zone 2 installation—areas more than 600mm from a shower or bath edge where moisture is present but not directly sprayed.

Designed for bathrooms, en-suites and dressing rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights, the 440mm drop keeps the chandelier-style crystal tiers within reach for cleaning whilst maintaining headroom clearance. The flush mount sits directly against the ceiling without a visible suspension rod, making it compatible with rooms where a pendant would hang too low. The eight bulbs distribute light across the tiers, refracting through each crystal facet to multiply brightness and create prism effects on surrounding tiles and mirrors.

The tiered structure uses five progressively smaller rings of crystal droplets, creating a rounded dome silhouette that widens from 450mm at the top to approximately 480mm at the widest tier before tapering to a single crystal drop finial at the base. Each crystal is individually hung on polished chrome loops, allowing movement and refraction as air circulates. The combined weight of 13.2kg—mostly from the crystal load—requires the ceiling rose to be securely fixed to a joist or ceiling batten, not just plasterboard alone.

The polished chrome finish on the canopy and internal frame reflects both natural daylight and artificial light back through the crystals, increasing the perceived brightness. The clear crystals remain neutral in tone, pairing equally well with cool white and warm white bulbs depending on the bathroom's tile and grout colour palette.

Can this be installed directly above a shower or bath?

No. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zone 2 only—areas more than 600mm horizontally from a shower head or tap, and above the 2.25m zone 1 height. It cannot be installed in zone 0 or zone 1 where direct water spray occurs.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The Coniston takes eight G9 capsule bulbs up to 10W each, sold separately. Most users pair it with warm white LED G9 bulbs between 2700K and 3000K for bathroom lighting. Dimmable bulbs are required if pairing with a dimmer switch.

How is the fitting secured to the ceiling?

At 13.2kg the Coniston requires the ceiling rose to be fixed directly to a joist or ceiling batten, not just plasterboard. If the existing ceiling rose is mounted only on plasterboard, additional batten reinforcement is needed before installation.

How are the crystals cleaned?

Switch off and allow the bulbs to cool. Wipe each crystal individually with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal loops or using household sprays which can leave residue that attracts dust.
