Description

The Coniston is a 1100mm-diameter semi-flush ceiling light built around a circular antique brass ring frame holding eighteen E14 bulb positions, each surrounded by strands of faceted clear crystal. The crystals are arranged in concentric rows across the full diameter of the ring, creating a continuous band of refracted light when the bulbs are lit.

Designed for dining rooms, living rooms and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Coniston provides both decorative presence and functional ambient light across a room up to approximately 18-20m². The semi-flush mounting sits closer to the ceiling than a pendant, with a 340mm overall height that includes the canopy and the crystal drop. This makes it suitable for rooms where a full chandelier would hang too low but a standard flush fitting would lack visual impact.

The antique brass finish on the metal frame carries a warm, slightly aged tone that pairs well with traditional, transitional and warmer contemporary interiors. Each of the eighteen bulb positions takes a standard E14 small Edison screw bulb (sold separately), and the fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible dimmable E14 LED bulbs and a suitable dimmer switch. The faceted crystal strands catch and scatter light from multiple angles, adding ambient sparkle without the full drama of a tiered chandelier.

At 31kg the Coniston requires secure ceiling mounting into a joist or reinforced fixing point — standard plasterboard ceiling roses will not support this weight. What bulbs does the Coniston take?

The fitting takes eighteen E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each up to 20W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit 4-6W LED E14 bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient lighting without excessive glare from the crystal.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable E14 LED bulbs and paired with a compatible LED dimmer switch. The fitting itself does not include dimming circuitry — dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs and dimmer model chosen.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 340mm height from ceiling to lowest crystal point works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. In lower-ceilinged rooms the fitting may feel visually heavy or risk head clearance issues in circulation areas.

The Coniston must be mounted directly into a ceiling joist or onto a reinforced mounting plate fixed across multiple joists. Standard plasterboard ceiling roses and spring toggles will not safely support 31kg. Professional installation by a qualified electrician is recommended to ensure the ceiling structure can carry the load.
